Information for Guests

Welcome

We look forward to welcoming you and hope you will enjoy your time with us. While we are not a hotel or corporate venue we will do our best to make you as comfortable as possible, and hope you will enjoy the special atmosphere of a real family home. Below is some useful information when planning your visit.

FINDING US

The main entrance gates of Homme House are adjacent to St. Bartholomew’s Church in Much Marcle. The church can be reached up a lane from the B4024 Much Marcle – Dymock road which runs through the village. If coming via the A449 from either the Ross-on-Wye or Ledbury direction, the turning for the B4024 is beside the Walwyn Arms Pub in the centre of the village.

From the entrance gates, a private drive through parkland and past lakes ends at a left turn which leads to the car park and house.

Our postcode is not reliable for navigation.

Google Maps: use ‘Homme House’
Satnav/other mapping: use ‘St. Bartholomew’s Church, Much Marcle’ for Estate entrance

Feel free to download detailed directions and a map here.

ARRIVAL

There is a gravel drop off area immediately in front of the house. You are welcome to pause there to unload passengers and luggage. We would be very grateful if you would then park in the paddock car park below the house.

PARKING

We have ample parking in our paddock car park below the house. If attending a wedding or event at Homme you are welcome to leave your car overnight and collect it on the following morning.

Guests staying in the Coach House are welcome to park directly outside in the stable yard at the back of the house.

If you are attending a church wedding at St. Bartholomew’s in Much Marcle, you are welcome to park at Homme prior to the service. The church is situated on the edge of the Homme House Estate a 10 minute walk along the drive through Homme’s beautiful parkland.

STAYING WITH US

All of the wedding accommodation available at Homme is reserved for the wedding couple for them to use and allocate as they would like, so please check with the couple whose wedding you are attending if you are hoping to stay at Homme. The check in time for all accommodation on the day before the wedding is 3pm. If you are arriving on the day of the wedding you would be welcome to check in as early as you like to get ready for the wedding. Check out is at 12pm on the day of departure. As a private family home there is no reception desk but Sarah and Charlie will be here to help get you settled in.

FACILITIES

Toiletries are provided in all bathrooms and towels are provided for all guests. A hairdryer, iron and ironing board is available for guest use in both the Main House and Coach House. There are wifi networks for guest use in both the Main House (signal strongest in Library) and Coach House.

BREAKFAST

Continental breakfasts are provided on each morning of your stay. On the morning of the wedding this will be provided in the guest kitchens of the Main House and Coach House for you to enjoy when you like. A continental or family cooked breakfast will be served in the main Dining Room on the morning after the wedding at the time of the couple’s choosing.

PARENTS WITH BABIES & YOUNG CHILDREN

Please inform the couple whose wedding you are attending if you have any specific requirements and we will do our best to help. We have two cots, three high chairs (more can be hired), and a dedicated baby changing loo for use by parents. Please note that there is unlikely to be space in the ceremony or meal for a buggy, which can be parked in the Hall or Library.

On wedding days there are hazards to be aware of, including open water at the end of the lawn and the possibility of fire bowls on the gravel. We ask that children are supervised at all times.

GUESTS WITH SPECIFIC DIETARY REQUIREMENTS

If you have any specific dietary requirements please inform the couple whose wedding you are attending as soon as possible so that the necessary catering arrangements can be made.

GUESTS WITH DISABILITIES

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss any considerations or specific requirements for your visit. For wheelchair users a permanent ramp at the front of the house and a short removable ramp allow access to the ground floor reception rooms, where there is a loo with wheelchair access. Specific arrangements may need to be made for mobility scooters of unusual dimensions – please get in touch to discuss these. Unfortunately due to the historic nature of the house there is no wheelchair access to the accommodation on the first and second floors.

PETS

Due to the presence of livestock on the Estate we unfortunately do not allow pets to visit Homme. Thank you for your understanding.

THE BAR

If you are attending a wedding at Homme and paying for your drinks the bar will accept both cash and card payments. The bar closes at 11:30pm.

WEDDINGS – THE END OF THE EVENING

Weddings at Homme finish at 11:45pm and all non-resident guests must depart the premises before 12:15am. Please download our list of local taxi options and pre-book your taxi for no later than midnight – if you do not pre-book you risk getting stranded at the end of the evening given the limited number of taxi services available in the area.

CAMPERVANS & CAMPING

I’m afraid we are not able to accommodate stays overnight on site in campervans or tents.

GUESTS NOT STAYING WITH US

For guests not staying at Homme House there are plenty of good local accommodation options available. We encourage prompt booking to ensure availability and welcome feedback on your experience.
